Will a selling site report you to HMRC?
Selling sites and apps, such as Vinted, eBay and Etsy, report some sellers to HMRC each year. Type your sales on one site this calendar year and what you sell to see whether it reports you, and whether tax is due.

Good to know
- The site reports on the calendar year, January to December. The £1,000 trading allowance is for the tax year, 6 April to 5 April, and counts all your trading income together.
Questions
Is there a new tax on selling online?
No. Selling sites now report sales to HMRC, but the tax rules haven't changed.
When am I trading?
Usually when you make things to sell, or buy things to sell on for a profit. Clearing out your own clothes, toys or loft usually isn't.
What does the site send?
Your details and what you sold. It sends you a copy too.
