£1,000 trading allowance check

Type your trading income for this tax year, before any costs, and your expenses. It shows whether you're at or under the £1,000 trading allowance and which way gives the lower taxable profit.

An estimate, using gov.uk figures checked 23 October 2026. It works out the answer in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere or saved. Guidance, not advice.

Good to know

  • You can't use the allowance in a tax year if any of your trading income comes from a company you, or someone connected to you, owns or controls; a partnership where you or someone connected to you is a partner; or your employer, or your spouse's or civil partner's employer.
  • You can use the allowance or your expenses, not both.
